About Art Works
“I find a magical quality in scenes of timeless architecture and landscapes,” Espinola says. “They are my favorite subjects for painting. I try to capture the feeling of the moment with subtleties of light and shade.”

“To me, working with stained glass is similar to painting with oils,” he explains. “Creating rhythms with the many different elements of glass allows light to be changed into special effects similar to my glazing techniques.”

In addition, Art Works specializes in working with schools. Local campuses display Art Works projects that can be anything from an entrance sign to a football field scoreboard, mascot mural to gym striping or new championship athletic banners. We are experts at making colorful, durable school award emblems: Title I, International Baccalaureate, California Distinguished, National Blue Ribbon, etc.
Gold Leafing is another service we offer at Art Works. We’ve gold-leafed the transoms of award-winning classic antique wooden boats as well as contemporary vessels. We can also apply other metallic leaf (copper, aluminum, etc.).
John is most often assisted by Theresa Brandt. She joined Art Works in 2000 and became an Art Works partner in 2010. The pair often go to customer meetings together. The final member of the Art Works team is Hoover, the shop cat. He makes it his duty to greet every visitor and has been known to attend meetings, stretched across John’s drawing board while colors are compared and patterns presented.
Professional and knowledgeable, your Art Works team members are problem solvers who enjoy a design challenge. Our open, friendly approach encourages collaboration, and John’s talent and skills ensure thoughtful, beautiful results.
