John Espinola thinks that the small DD included beside the drop shadow is intended as a tribute to the boat’s previous owner.
This is one from the archives, however, so it’s admittedly hard to remember. The “Standard Espinola Treatment” – gilding, outlining, drop shadows – works particularly well on this transom.
